SprintPlus helps children, young people and adults who have problems with reading, writing and spelling (such as dyslexia).
SprintPlus adds speech and language technology to your computer so that you can listen to your documents, internet pages, email,… in fact any available text on your computer, as SprintPlus reads them out loud. SprintPlus also can read aloud while text is being entered which helps in detecting mistakes.
SprintPlus adds a toolbar in Microsoft Word and in its PDF reader to allow reading by word, sentence, paragraph or the whole document. Volume and speed are easily adjustable. SprintPlus highlights the sentence in color and the word that is being read. Use the ‘click and read’ function to select specific words or sentences to be read out loud.
Words that sound the same but are spelled differently – homophones – will not be noticed by the spelling checker. For example: ‘be’ and ‘bee’. SprintPlus can automatically mark the homophones in a document. After double clicking a marked homophone, SprintPlus shows a dialog box with the different possibilities
by means of a drawing, an explanation and an example.
SprintPlus also has its own word processor, allowing the same reading possibilities as in Word. In addition, the word processor in SprintPlus provides an environment conducive for teaching literacy. Documents can be imported and with the use of markers, a summary can be made. Written documents can also be saved as a WAV or MP3 file, so that lessons, courses, books, and even e-mails can
be listened to on an mp3 player.
SprintPlus has intelligent (talking) word prediction based on an adaptable list of about 25,000 common used words. Words are predicted on the basis of typed-in characters. After showing a list of predictions the correct word can be inserted. Then, SprintPlus immediately predicts possible next words, taking into account the context of the sentence.
SprintPlus is also available in a portable USB version: SprintoPlus
